I paint and sculpt the West the way I've watched it growing up in the West: livestock and horses in the fields, wildlife standing in their natural habitat, and the people who live alongside both. My work is representational because the subject earns it — the movement, the light, the weight of the animal are already there. My job is to get them right in bronze and oil.

I started with a horse. Horse #1 was the first horse painting I ever made, and I haven't stopped watching them since — a racehorse on the home stretch, a Native American bust, a longhorn cow and her calf at sunset. These are pieces made to earn their place in a room.
